About Therapy

I work to the Person Centred model of counselling and psychotherapy, which puts the relationship between you, the client, and me, the counsellor, at the heart of the work that we will do. I believe that building a strong relationship based on trust, openness, and honesty, is key to affecting change and growth within your self. You are the expert in your own life, and I am here to help facilitate your own understanding of your self in a space that is safe and free of judgement. If you would like to know more about the Person Centred approach, please follow the link below.

About You
Choosing a counsellor/psychotherapist
Counselling can be a rewarding and sometimes life changing experience, but it can also feel like a daunting process to undertake at the start, which is why it is important that you find a counsellor who you feel safe and comfortable with. I believe that a first meeting with a counsellor can tell you a lot about whether they feel like the right fit for you, which is why I offer a full, 1 hour, initial session at a reduced rate, so that we can meet, take stock and get a feeling for what it would be like to work with each other. After this session you can take your time to think about whether you would like to go ahead with me as your counsellor or not. I encourage you to set up a number of initial sessions with different counsellors so that you can experience differing styles to find one that fits you best.

About Me
I am a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over ten years of experience working within the fields of Counselling and Mental Health. I see myself as open minded and non judgmental, and I genuinely care about my clients' wellbeing, and potential for change and growth. I sincerely believe in the power of a healthy, nurturing, professional relationship between client and counsellor, and the change that can occur in a client who experiences this kind of genuine, non judgemental understanding. In my practice as a counsellor, I try to embody these qualities so that you, as my client, can be empowered to find your own path through the pain and difficulty that you may be experiencing, with me by your side.

About the Space

I believe that the space in which counselling takes place can impact greatly on how you, the client, feel in your sessions. Here, the counselling space is a room within my garden, which is very private and calm. Although central to Brighton, it benefits from being away from the noises of the city, which help it to feel tranquil and safe.
